Curious about Mahjong? Start here! Mahjong 101 is our introductory lesson designed for true beginners—no prior experience required.

During this instructor-led class, you’ll learn the foundations of American Mahjong, including the tiles and their suits, how to read the current National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card, Charleston, game play, basic rules and table etiquette. We’ll finish with guided practice so you can begin putting everything together at the table.

All Mahjong equipment is provided. NMJL cards will be available for use during class.

After Mahjong 101, we encourage new players to continue practicing at Guided Play before joining one of our regular Open Play sessions.
